Having spent 20 years at that time in research the problem seemed to be that the valuable information was not reaching the appropriate people ( ie. everyone ) in a form they could understand, and more critically, put into practice . . . 'best practice'. Initially the idea of a training course for abattoir personel ranging from management to slaughtermen was proposed and slowly took shape in the form of the Animal Welfare Officer Training Course looking at the welfare of cattle, sheep and pigs within the abattoir. Two years later the Poultry Welfare Course was drafted using the same principals as the AWO course. Both courses provided unique training opportunities for staff within the UK slaughter industry, which for the first time placed scientific researchers and Meat Industry personel in a formal environment to discuss issues and undergo in depth training in Animal Welfare. |

AWTraining has been recognised for providing 'excellence' in training at the World Food Congress in the Hague, Netherlands. Since then we have sought to provide the highest possible standard of information and presentation providing for an enjoyable learning experience during the two day course. The use of multimedia systems allows for this more relaxed approach to the presentation style enhanced by the fact that the three tutors are have been working together for 30 years and have been delivering the AWO and PWO courses for 10 and 7 years respectively. The quality and substance of the material and presentation as well as the acceptance and understanding of the delegates will always remain our priority.
